David Morell
After graduating from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in 2000, David embarked upon his European career as a trifold artist: as an actor, a singer/songwriter and a writer. Thereafter he has performed as a solo artist and singer on numerous stages across Europe and Australia.
With the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, he sang Kali Chronia Me Musicals in the Greek metropolis of the same name. He debuted his new solo cabaret style concert Relationships in Melbourne, Australia. Accompanied by 80 musicians he sang at the Gymnastics Meets Music event in the sold out, 15,000 seat Hallenstadion Arena, Switzerland’s largest show venue. He has also performed at various events as a soloist at the KKL (Culture and Convention Center) in Lucerne, the most highly esteemed concert hall of his country. David also starred in the solo piece “Eine Vision Schafft Werte” for Zeppelin’s 100th anniversary in Germany.
His German speaking roles include Che in Evita, Javert in Les Misérables, Perchik in Fiddler On The Roof, Bruce J. Ismay in Titanic and the title role of the Beast in the German tour of Beauty and the Beast. In English speaking productions he has played the following roles: Claude and Berger in Hair, Riff Raff in the Original West End Production of the Rocky Horror Show, Viktor in Laid Bacharach and Blacklock in The Hired Men. In his mother tongue, Swiss German, David has played Fritz Aeberli in the world premiere of the musical Daellenbach Kari at the Thunerseespiele in Thun, Switzerland as well as in Zurich and Berne.
His work as a writer and director includes That’s Life and Gefangen, two youth plays, The Ceremony, a short play in English, performed at Schiffbau 5 in Zurich, Switzerland and Fly With Me – Airways, a solo show premiered 2023 in Berne, Switzerland.
In 2017, he performed as a returning soloist for the World Band Festival at the KKL Lucerne. In 2018, he sang at Gymotion at the Hallenstadion Arena in Zurich for a second time.
After a sold-out concert last year, David will perform “New York Christmas” once again at the KKL Lucerne on December 19, 2024.
David is from Berne, Switzerland and now lives in the Lake Zurich area.
wingbeat GmbH
As a platform for his self-penned stories and creations for stage and screen, David founded wingbeat GmbH in 2018. In cooperation with German filmmaker Tobias Heilmann, a documentary film is currently in the making.
